Imporatance Of Human Body
HUMAN BODY IS LIVING IDOL OF GOD
Satguru considers the human body to be the walking and talking living idol of God made by God Himself. He has taught the ideal worship of the living idol of God which consists of
by nurturing the human body with good Sanskaras or impressions and excellent habits;
by culturing the human body well with an excellent education, training and teachings;
by nourishing the human body with good food, pure milk and water, etc.;
by maintaining the human body in sound condition with peaceful mind by entertaining good thoughts in the mind, speaking pleasant words, performing good actions, remembering God with gratitude, performing physical exercises or Yoga; and
by constantly striving for both material development and spiritual progress. He emphasizes that by worshipping God in the way mentioned above, human beings can positively attain happiness, peace, contentedness, bliss, health, success and prosperity.
Conversely, those who become addicts of undesirable vices like alcohol, smoking, chewing tobacco, opium, heroin, brown sugar, etc., actually vandalize and insult the living idol of God in the form of the human body. In the same way, by indulging in abuse, corruption, atrocities, harassment of people, violence, murders, etc., human beings actually torture, damage and demolish the living idol of God in the form of the human body. Satguru maintains that people who indulge in such bad and evil actions are terrible criminals in the eyes of God and they are meted out their punishment as per the Universal Laws of Nature in the form of physical diseases, mental diseases, troubles, catastrophes, calamities, tensions, unhappiness, misery etc.
Thinking and Feeling
What is the difference between thinking and feeling?
Do they take part in different parts of our brains or body?
How do you separate the two? Where do you draw the line?
i would say that Thinking n Feeling emerge simultaneously n u can also add Behavior as well. When a person sees sth he/she will automatically think about it/perceives it n then feel about it, how it is felt by him/her through sensations or emotions eventually behave according to his/her wish which can be voluntary or involuntary. According to this, every behavior is preceded by thinking n feeling. Is it clear to u? in my opinion, thinking n feeling r quite relevent... environment,behaviours n brought up basically inlfuence our thinking... all these factors motivate to think n then we feel the matter accordingly... either for ourself or for others... but its not evident that every person can feel as well!!! yeah.. a bitter reality...but if u minutely observe that there r ppl who can only think n if they'd feel, it'd be only self-centered..but actual feeling means to feel for others.. even if u're the most helpless one! The Feelings are a source... of external stimulus, irrational... it just comes; it hard to hold.
The Thinkings are an automatic proces. We´re ever thinking even that you don´t perceive.
I ever say that I Think in another stage of concience...
Here I present two afirmations:
1 - If we ever think, the external environment can direct our mind influencing our proceed in a hid, like Feelings are interacting every time with all around us.
2 - In any way we can not express what it realy are with words our Feelings end Thinks...
Know The Power Of Yoga
Free yoga exercises online
I really don't know if power yoga,artistic yoga should be cosidered as branches of yoga at all. Traditionally,Patanjali never ever dealt with hatha yogic practices which were written about only around the 11th or 12 th century a.d.Patanjali did write about ashtang yoga abut the way the Ashtang yoga is being taught today, it is a misnomer. True yoga conserves energy and works on your systems. It does not consume your energy. In fact it is not an excercise in that sense. It is a totalistic system, a life style and not just a few hours of physical stretching
It is very true that yoga is not exercise as it is practiced in the west and one should sincerely practice the ashtang yoga right from Yama and niyama and not just jump to asanas straight. People want quick results thats why they like to convince them selves that asanas alone will bring about change in them but as per the sutra it should be followed one after the other in sequence and takes years togather of sincere practice to get to the right path as my guru has. He is 84 and is on his way to reverse his age and practices yoga and satvik diet sincerely and I have seen his fitness, he can run 100meter in 15 seconds at his age and also has got gold medal in his category in National games. Thats what I call real fitness and yogic benefit.
I agree Power Yoga is like twisted form of yoga I just don't get it, I've seen people doing yoga with dumbells. Other forms of yoga I see popular here in US are Vinyasa Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Flow yoga etc sorry don't have much details about what they teach in these styles.
Sivananda Yoga Tips
What Is Yoga
The word "yoga" means "union". Yoga is a form of exercise based on the belief that the body and breath are intimately connected with the mind. By controlling the breath and holding the body in steady poses or "asanas", yoga creates harmony.
Yoga practice consists of five key elements: proper breathing, proper exercise, proper relaxation, proper diet, and positive thinking and meditation. The exercises, or asanas, are designed to ease tense muscles, to tone up the internal organs, and to improve the flexibility of the body's joints and ligaments.
Tip # 2: Proper Exercise: Yoga Asanas
The aim of proper exercise is to improve suppleness and strength. Each posture is performed slowly in fluid movements. Violent movements are avoided as they produce a build-up of lactic acid, causing fatigue.
Proper Relaxation
The release of tension through relaxation is vital to keep the body healthy. Begin and end each session of yoga asanas with relaxation, and relax between postures. This allows the released energy to flow freely. Feb 9 Arun
Positive Thinking & Meditation
Meditation is a state of consciousness. When practicing meditation, you must first learn how to calm the mind, and focus your mental energy inwards. Meditation can help to relieve stress and replenish your energy. If it is practiced on a daily basis, you will also find it will enable you you to think more clearly and positively, and to be at peace with yourself. Feb 9 Arun
Proper Diet
The recommended diet for a student of yoga is a simple and wholesome vegetarian one, made up of natural foods that are easily digested. It keeps the body vital and healthy, and the mind calm and free from restless thoughts. Processed and tinned foods are to be avoided when possible. Feb 9 Arun
The Importance Of A Teacher
Whether you are learning yoga singly or in a group, it is always best to be supervised by a qualified teacher. A teacher will demonstrate how to ease your body gently into and out of the yoga postures and, most importantly, how to breathe correctly when holding a balance. He or she will ensure that you do not strain your limbs, and will help you to align your body in the asanas. Feb 9 Arun
What You Need
You do not need special equipment to practice yoga. Although you can buy foam yoga mats, a towel on a carpeted floor will do just as well. For practicing indoors, you will need an open space, clear of furniture. The room should be comfortably heated and free of disturbances. Feb 9 Arun
When & Where To Practice
Try to practice yoga everyday. At the same time, be gentle. Do not force yourself. A yoga session should be a joy. Set aside a time when you will not be disturbed and you will not have to rush. Morning practice helps loosen up stiff joints after sleep. Evening practice releases the tensions of the day. Whenever you practice yoga, avoid eating for at least two hours beforehand. Feb 9 Arun
Each Session: How Long?
For maximum benefit, you should set aside about 90 minutes. When you are busy, try a shorter session with fewer asanas. It is very important not to feel rushed, and to allow time for relaxation between poses. You can always perform the breathing exercises at a later stage.
That's very interesting although I find the concept of props on a yoga practice unappealing.
"It is extremely beneficial in helping you deepen your pose, learn how to do it correctly"
You mean you actually have to do a pose correctly right from the start even if it take props ? Or you can do it "wrong" and still benefit from it ?
In Swásthya the rules are simple:
1) Respect the body
2) Permanence and conscience - using breathing (exhale phase) to progress a bit further on the pose
This means that at the beginning people will start a pose awkwardly but as long the general posture/alignment is maintained it is alright, and then as you make your progress class after class you will notice the correct posture is more and more available to you.
After a year of yoga doing it halfway wrong I suddenly realized that "wow, hey, I can DO IT" on a particular pose, not to mention the other general benefits.
Of course, depending on the posture and person you have varied levels of "correctness" but all will get there with time.
This reasoning makes sense to me; its a typical case of theory vs. practice, knowing about it vs. knowing - you know the end result of something but if go ahead and force your way into the finish line you might miss the finer detail because you never got around the middle experience.
In this case using ropes seems unnatural, probably props help you "get there faster" but I don't necessary agree that's the purpose of Yoga - its seems dogmatic to demand from a person that level of excellence.
It probably can take more time but you do feel some kind of epiphany when your knee is naturally touching a part of your body that it would not some time ago. :]
