I watch the news and DVD's on my PC
...but this does not 'count' as watching TV IMHO.
I haven't owned a TV since I left home at the age of 17. Lived happily ever after even though I love to watch telly from time to time. I just don't want the constant brainwash (you should buy this/look like that/etc. etc.) in my house and life...
I do get funny reactions from people when I tell them I don't have a TV. All the time, really. They're just shocked that such a thing is possible. They wonder how I can live without one. They even ask me how I get through my evenings!
Another reason not to watch TV is that, like Jesse, it usually leaves me totally drained and overstimulated. A couple of weeks ago I was in a hotel in Paris, watched a programme on mythological beasts in films and dreamt about werewolves, cats, vampires, etc. all night long. Not nice.
Oh and Jesse, I think you must be extremely rare in growing up without a TV - and very lucky. Interesting material for sociologists and the like too. I reckon it would be pretty interesting to compare self-image, outlook, etc. of kids who grew up without a TV with those who didn't.
